With its central focus on Timor, its people and its landscapes, together with other physical and imagined locations, De Olhos Lavados can be viewed as the lyrical narration of a real and metaphysical journey which the author seeks to bring to life in this book. In a bilingual edition with a translation into Tetum by the Timorese poet Abé Barreto, and illustrated with collages by the Swiss artist Piera Zürchter, this book excels in its interplay of images and words and contains a poetry that ranges from the tangible to the abstruse, but in which detail is always at the heart of the poetic text.

António José Borges
É licenciado em Ensino de Português e Alemão, pela Universidade do Minho, tendo frequentado ao abrigo do Programa Sócrates/Erasmus a Ruhr Universität Bochum, na Alemanha. É mestre em Ensino da Língua e Literatura Portuguesas, pela Universidade de Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro. Foi professor de Literatura Portuguesa Contemporânea, entre outras disciplinas, na Universidade Nacional Timor Lorosa`e. Tem um livro de crónicas publicado, com o título Timor - As Rugas da Beleza, colaborou com textos de diferentes géneros em várias revistas e profere palestras, no âmbito da análise literária, com alguma regularidade. É membro da associação Portuguesa de Escritores e da Sociedade da Língua Portuguesa, é cronista permanente na revista Tribuna Douro, faz parte do conselho editorial da revista Nova Águia e da comissão coordenadora do Movimento Internacional Lusófono. Também é tradutor de Inglês-Português e Alemão-Português e consultor editorial.
