The Salpicos collection is designed to develop an interest in Portuguese as a non-native language, and in Portugal and Portuguese culture in non-reading children (Salpicos 1 - ages 4 and 5) and reading children (Salpicos 2, Salpicos 3 and Salpicos 4 - ages 6 to 13). Salpicos is not based on the formal acquisition of language skills but rather on the act of communicating, orality and comprehension of simple statements. The objective is to awaken children`s interest, and stimulate and motivate them to explore the Portuguese Language.
The content meets the recommendations of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and by the end of Salpicos 1 and 2 students will have achieved proficiency at Level A1 in terms of the skills of reception/expression and comprehension/production and oral interaction. By the end of Salpicos 3 students will have achieved proficiency at Level A2 and by the end of Salpicos 4 students will have achieved proficiency at Level B1 in terms of the skills of oral and written reception, oral production (continuous or in interaction) and written production.
