The international outlook of the Portuguese people is undeniable and their tendency to self-criticism is reflected in the following expressions, for example: if they have a problem to overcome, they say they are "seeing Greek"; if something is diffi cult to understand, "it`s Chinese"; if you work from morn till night, you`re "a Moor"; if there is a modern but pretty useless invention, it`s "an Americanism"; but when someone commits a blunder or something goes wrong, it`s "Portuguese-style"! This book contains exercises to extend students` knowledge which, it is hoped, may contribute to a better understanding of the subtleties of the Portuguese language.
